Our Tintilia and its Crus
The estate extends over eighty hectares, fifty-two of which are vineyards, divided between three farms, all certified organic: the historic Contrada Petriera estate, Tenuta al Convento, and Tenuta al Calvario.
Tintilia thrives in the three distinct soil and climate conditions in which it is cultivated, drawing distinct expressive cues from each, which give the wine specific organoleptic characteristics and enhance its unique character.
Today our company is among the leading interpreters of this rare and extraordinary variety.

In Molise
According to Molisani “Tintilia” is nothing but a derivation of the name from the dialect word “Tenta” (Hue) in Molise is also called “Tintiglia” or “Tentiglia” given the particular features of this grape staining (= dye Tentiglia ) of dark red any garment.

Analysis
Legend says that the Tintilia could be the name of the Sardinian variety known as “Bovale Sardo or Bovale Grande”, but the results of genetic analysis have been loyal to the expectations: in fact, 21 of the 22 samples of Tintilia examined were perfectly identical between them and all distinct both from Bovale Sardo from Bovale Grande.
So all the analyzed samples are clones and are genetically distinct from the varieties Bovale Sardo and bovale Grande, so this result excludes the supposed synonymy between Tintilia and Bovale Sardo or Grande.

Legends...

Shortly after the young wife died and her husband decided to plant, just as a reminder of the beloved, vineyards for the production of wine that had crowned their union.
